Inspired by Rebecca Horn's 'Finger Gloves'.
'Rebecca Horn made fabric-body sculpture pieces when she was forced to spend a year in a sanatorium as a result of lung poisoning from working with polyester and fiberglass. Isolated from the outside world and confined to her bed for long periods, she started to develop ideas of communicating with people through constructions centered on her body.'
While wearing the 'Finger Gloves', Horn was able to grasp objects from far away, thus, in a way, isolating herself. The nature of the garment meant both empowerment and restriction.
To create this image, Rebecca Horn's original 'Finger Gloves' were edited onto an image taken in a similar position as Horn in her own original. Dimensions: 52cmx70cm (plexiglass frame included)
